Fire and Ice, 2015

Fire and Ice is a diptych inspired by the Robert Frost poem of the same name. The mirror combines the luxury of royal porcelain with a low-brow twist: each porcelain figure is cast from flea-market trinkets, kitsch souvenirs and toys. Each found object bring its own history and their juxtaposition adds a surreal quality. In Fire and Ice, pastoral scenes dissolve into an apocalyptic fairy tale of mushroom clouds, doomed girl scouts and a swan boat ride to oblivion.
